The way a Case Officer transforms into an Agent (or Informant or Confidential Informant) is through the use of the acronym MICE, which stands for: MoneyIdeologyCompromise (aka Blackmail)Ego.
Former CIA Director of Counterintelligence James Jesus Angleton, also known as the “spy poet,” described the game of Intelligence as the “Desert of Mirrors,” which was a phrase borrowed from a poem by TS
Blake, the acronym „OBE” is incorrectly explained as „Overtaken By Events.” In US government agencies, including those in the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense, the correct/official explanation of the acronym „OBE” is „Overcome By Events.” The opening credits feature characters and scenes from the series interspersed with mirror panels. Eliot called Gerontion (the title is Greek for “little old man,” and the poem is an interior monologue recounting the opinions and impressions of an elderly man, describing post-World War I Europe through the eyes of a man who lived most of his life in the 19th century). Nothing else has come remotely close to it
I have to say, I was lucky enough to watch The Bureau a few years ago, and to be honest, it is probably one of the best things I have ever seen. There is a correlation between the two series, obviously it was mentioned that it was „influenced” by it, but to be honest, I wasn’t expecting a similar plot. Don’t get me wrong, the series so far is amazing, great cast, good cinematography, but it wasn’t something I hadn’t already seen in the French version.
You won’t regret it
It’s too early to say what it will be like, but I highly recommend anyone who hasn’t seen The Bureau to watch it. After Fassbender played a professional assassin in David Fincher’s The Killer, and I saw that he was in the cast, I immediately knew that he is a great choice for the role. This type of series really requires a certain amount of concentration while watching, so that you can follow all the characters in the story and the little details about them.
It’s not something you would watch while cycling on the indoor trainer
Some would even consider them slow, maybe even boring, but exactly these characteristics and complicated personal struggles that the characters have, plus the slow build-up of tension, is what makes them great in my opinion. You either love these types of series or you don’t like them at all, there is no middle ground.
