After witnessing a strange and traumatic incident involving a female patient, the psychiatrist becomes increasingly convinced that she is being menaced by a strange entity. A couple of days before the September 30, 2022 release, actors from the film appeared at several baseball games, sitting behind home plate, motionless and smiling while staring into the camera, motionless despite fans in the audience being understandably concerned, while wearing Smile t-shirts. Another soon appeared in the background with the crowd during the Today show. At about the 31-minute mark, Rose breaks a glass as the alarm goes off. When the glass is shown at her feet, she is wearing socks. A few seconds later she was checking the door in lace-up shoes. Depending on what happens later at a party, there are several continuity issues that may not be „mistakes” or „errors” but may actually be deliberate to show „breaks” in Rose’s consciousness/sanity. The opening and closing Paramount logos have a curved smile-shaped line at the base of the mountain. Featured in Chris Stuckmann’s Movie Reviews: Smile (2022). LollipopWritten by Beverly Ross & Julius Dixon Performed by The Chordettes. This movie had me scared and on edge from start to finish. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a horror movie this good. The story is a bit cliché at points, but it’s well-written and well-done most of the time. The acting is great too, which isn’t always a common thing when it comes to horror movies. It’s very well directed and the atmosphere is really unsettling. The first girl who died in the movie probably had the most disgusting smile I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Especially when the therapist started seeing her in the dark like a hallucination. That really gave me the creeps. Then there were some smiles that weren’t really scary, like the one from the patient Carl. The pacing of the movie was excellent. It got creepier and creepier as the story went on. The ending really stuck in my brain and I actually thought I was going to have nightmares that night, which doesn’t happen to me very often. The day after I watched this movie, a car drove by and the old man driving looked at me and smiled… All I could think about was this movie. This was Parker Finn’s first feature film. I really hope he makes more movies like this. A good start to his career as a writer and director. Well done!
