This show has only the most tangential relationship to the original series
Line of Events
Follows Madeline Matlock as she reenters the workforce at a prestigious law firm, where she uses her cunning tactics to win cases and expose wrongdoing. A gender-swapped parody of the original 1986 TV series of the same name, Matlock (1986), starring Andy Griffith in the lead role of criminal defense attorney Ben Matlock. For legal reasons, they had to give Dean Hargrove a „based on the Matlock series” credit.
Remake of Matlock (1986)
In order for Matlock to be hired by a New York law firm, they would have had to have verified the status of her law license through one of three official mechanisms, each carefully administered by the state. This would have verified identity, address, current license status, disciplinary actions, etc. It’s pure entertainment.
Good stories, good dialogue
Finally. It’s great to see Kathy Bates and Beau Bridges in better shape than ever. I hope the series continues for some time.
I look forward to the next episodes
It might bring us back to watching network television. Matlock’s intelligence in perceiving personalities and possibilities really drives the story and keeps the viewer interested. Beau Bridges, as the head of the family law firm, is a nice guy, but tough as nails when it comes to winning every case.
